Am I missing anything? However, when I attempt to erase these disks using the Disk Utility method, I only receive the following error message: "Optical Erase Failed, Erase of optical media did not complete or Nero just isn't writing a needed directory (?) or root file (?) to let the standalone (almost new Samsung - DVD/VDR Combo Player) know what it's playing. The RW on the right side of the disk shows the disk can be read and written to but written to only once.

I still can't erase a DVD +RW that has been written to without encountering "Unspecified target error". I have been burning trial previews of my my home movies to a DVD-RW disk using iMovie and iDVD '08 before burning a final copy to regular DVD-R disk. Yes, I tried it with another DVD-RW disc and this one did erase successfully. but when I put the cd/dvd back in the drive InCD tells me that it is a read-only disc and can read from it but cannot write to it. Try formatting it. That disc image can be burned with Disk Utility or another burning app such as Toast.

Seemed to go through fine and after a quick reboot I noticed no difference.... If you don't mind providing the detailed instructions or directions regarding the firmware update, (remember, I'm not the most computer literate), I would greatly appreciate your assistance not to mention your Still no play on my standalone!
