Trying windows media player again, I switched to 16x and a different brand of cd, I already had no other progs running. Every little bit helps. From doing some googling it appears as if I have the lastest firmware. It's more likely that your drive and the type of media don't work together, which is a fairly common problem.

If it's a new spool that you have never used before, it might be media incompatibility. You can use Disk Utility or Finder to burn the ISO file.
