DVD Drive Slow When Booting From Disk
What's supposedly on the HDD? Thank you for helping us maintain CNET's great community. Does this machine boot OK if the HDD is disconnected? I've pushed the DVD down to the bottom of the list but the problem remains. Check This Out
My BIOS only allows me to change the order of the boot. Once I'm done backing it up, I'm going to run the samsung diagnostics utility. theres just a slight delay with the hdd ( about 5 seconds delay ) upon boot My System Specs Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell D620 OS Windows Ultimate x64 It's a windows 8 pre installed laptop with Windows 7. I ran a DVD drive diagnostic program called Opti Drive Control and it indicated that read speed was about 1.5 - 3x depending on the position being read. Is there anything I can do to solve this without purchasing a new drive? EDIT: I tried using a lens cleaner CD as suggested by some posts on the internet but it had no effect EDIT: I was unable to update the firmware as it I have the boot order set to the SSD first, so I'm not sure why it is taking longer.
