This would be more interesting for dual core CPUs with joined L2 cache, I guess. (i.e. So, I've selected the seti job(s) and manually adjusted their affinity. It doesn't matter if you have 1 core or 1000 if the program only makes use of 1 thread. have a peek here Reproduction in whole or part in any form or medium without specific written permission is prohibited.

I normally do, unless I restart and forget to turn it off. Not to hijack this thread, but I run the same hardware... The "cpu afinity" is to be a part of the new version of BOINC but it has not been released yet.

I've set my preferences to use only ONE cpu, yet the seti application in task manager still shows affinity for both cores.

Whenever the O/S returns to an app, it can get it running on any CPU that is affinity allowed, available, and not percentage "busy" at that time. Having enough RAM is a much more important factor for having multiple programs running at once - and for typical office / internet usage 4GB is probably plenty.Where multiple cores get Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App Quick Reply Reply The Following User Says Thank You to AndroidSupreme For This Useful Post: [ View ] Gift AndroidSupreme Ad-Free booyakasha(7th January 2011) This topic is locked from further discussion.
